CHALLENGEThe 2021 Forum centered on the theme of connectedness and exploring how the world was beginning to reopen and reestablish global ties in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Bloomberg partnered with Schema to create a visual experience that would reflect this moment of transition and optimism. The challenge was to design motion and data visuals that felt hopeful, immersive, and emotionally resonant, while still grounded in real global trends.

APPROACH
  • Focused on five key global themes: Cities, Climate, Finance, Health, and Trade.
  • Developed a style that merged impressionistic motion with data-driven storytelling.
  • Collaborated on custom animations for partner organizations across sectors.

ROLE
  • Contributed to the visual and motion design for both thematic content and ambient data pieces.
  • Helped translate raw datasets into flowing, abstract visualizations that complemented the event’s tone.
  • Worked on a suite of background chart animations tailored for plenary sessions and panels.

SOLUTIONA cohesive visual environment that included:
  • A series of animated data narratives reflecting key post-pandemic trends.
  • Partner-branded animations tailored to screen-specific constraints.
  • A curated collection of motion charts that played behind speakers, enhancing the atmosphere without distraction.

IMPACTThe 2021 Forum’s visuals contributed to a sense of renewal and reconnection. By blending abstract animation with real-world data, the experience struck an emotional and intellectual balance, leaving audiences with a visually powerful message of global possibility and resilience.
